Hot water is supposed to be back

06.06.09

As any Nsk resident knows, early summer is the days without hot water. The reason for this is that utility providers run so-called hydraulic tests intended to identify pipe leaks, and fix them. While good in nature these tests are real pain in the ass for normal crowd who simply wants to take a shower. This summer was not the exclusion, and you probably live without hot water for a week already. Good news is that providers report end of the tests, and the water will be back by 10th of June!

Prague WTF???

15.05.09

Amazingly, direct flights between Novosibirsk and Prague became cancelled after just two of them. It appeared that they were flown under 'temporary permission' from Russian air authorities, and there seems to be a problem with continuing. However we don't know the story to the fullest, it could easily be that some Russian airline has lobbied against CSA that does the flights. The truth is hidden, but seriously, CSA - we'd expect you to do your homework before advertising the service

Czech Airlines indeed will fly twice a week to Prague

09.04.09

Now it's official, starting from 29th of April Czech airlines starting to run twice a week flight to and from Prague. Tuesdays and Fridays - coming from Prague, Wednesdays and Saturdays - going to Prague. The flights will be run on a modern A319 aircraft.

Tax collection growing - signs of crisis resolving

31.03.09

As reported by Federal Taxation Service, the taxes collected in Jan and Feb 2009 grew by 1,8% on a year-to-year comparison to 2008. Since there hasn't been any tax rates going up, it is definitely the sign of overall trade and business going up. Just the kind of news we needed.

Czech Airlines to start flying to/from Nsk

28.03.09

According to FinChannel.com the Czech Airlines is planning to make twice a daily flights to/from Novosibirsk on Tuesday and Friday, with the first one being planned for the end of April. Like all the time - good news, at least quality beer is now so much closer :)

Time Machine to give concert on 9th of April

24.03.09

Famous Russian band Time Machine is giving its anniversary concert on the premises of Opera and Ballet Theatre in Nskon 9th of April. While this name might mean entirely nothing to your expat soul, this is legendary band for Russia, was probably the 'fathers' of rock-n-roll in Russia, and otherwise simply nice music. You definitely have to visit it, knowing Russian is not required, simply because the music is great, and not knowing Russian is not an excuse.

Linked back to Tyva

21.03.09

While it is preliminary, but Novosibirsk Avia plans to run flights twice a week on the Nsk-Abakan-Kyzyl route thus having now link to Khakassia and Tyva, making these not-so-popular-as-they-deserve destinations more reachable.

S7 to do weekly flights to Almaty

25.02.09

Now easy way to go to Kazakhstan, S7 will run weekly flights (every Friday) to Almaty on A320 aircraft.

S7 sets up check-in self-service terminals in Nsk airport

16.02.09

Hey, civilisation has arrived! S7 announced that it started to set up terminals for self-assisted check-in in Nsk airport. Great news indeed. Now if you're carrying only cabin luggage you can use it without any queues or hassles to check-in for S7 flights. Just damn great. The only sore feeling is that I used something like this in Dublin something like 3 years back which is probably rough indication of our airline industry being something like 5 years back behind West. Oh dear, now we start to measure things in terms of 'being behind West by X years'. Next stop - jokes of 'In Soviet Russia...' type.

Novosibirsk Avia launches weekly flight to Krasnoyarsk

15.02.09

Novosibirsk Avia starts weekly flight, every Wednesday, to Krasnoyarsk and back. Sounds like a good news with 2 buts. But 1 - it runs on An-24, entirely awful, old, and tight Soviet aircraft. But 2 - it runs from Severny airport of Novosibirsk (yes, we have 'second' airport here, which is like zombie, seems to be living, but not really) and you can imagine the level of service there (or the lack of), completely different from new and shining Tolmachevo airport (the main one). All in all, might be good news if you need to get to Krasnoyarsk FAST (and it is Wednesday), otherwise - much better and easier to take a night train to Krasnoyarsk.
