This is becoming a sorta tradition to rise fares in metro (subway, underground, tube) somewhere in the earlier part of the year. Last time it happened in Feb 2007, and now again. Anyway, metro fare is now 12 Roubles effective from 15th of March.

NordSib railway plans announced

Siberian regions and Russian Railways have announced the intention to build a so-called Northern Siberian railway. The proposed railway will be more than 2000 km long and will run through Khanty-Mansiysk Okrug, northern part of Tomsk Oblast, Kransoyarsk and Irkutsk Oblast. Read more

Ok, for long it was some advantage of our city that while being third-largest city in Russia we didn't have third-highest property prices. It attracted people and businesses and was sort of way for us to show curiosity to those 'on the other side of Urals' about how can property cost so high. Well, friends, no more! According to recent survey, the prices of property in Nsk has reached third-highest in Russia. While probably understandable, still it's bad for us. Uhm, ok, will live.
